China NEV Daily: Stelato G9 Launches $60.5K, BYD Da Han EV 1,008 km, VW ID.ERA 5S PHEV Under $13K (Aug 21)
The 2026 Chengdu Auto Show opened today with a wave of launches spanning battery-electric, plug-in hybrid, and range-extended vehicles. From Huawei-backed hardcore luxury SUVs to a sub-$13,000 Volkswagen plug-in sedan, Chinese electrified vehicles continue to push price and capability boundaries across every powertrain type.
Stelato G9 (享界G9): Huawei's "tech-luxury hardcore SUV" launches from RMB 429,800

The Chengdu show's headline act came a day early: on August 20, Huawei and BAIC's Stelato brand launched the G9, billed as the first "technology-luxury hardcore SUV." - Two body styles: five-seat and six-seat; dimensions 5,377 × 2,050 × 1,897 mm, wheelbase 3,160 mm.
- BEV version: 120 kWh ternary battery, up to 728 km CLTC; EREV version: 1.5T range extender, up to 405 km electric + 1,366 km combined CLTC.
- Debuts Huawei's all-terrain "Tuling" platform, an 800V disconnectable anti-roll bar, adaptive differential-lock e-drive, and L3-architecture design (approved for 120 km/h L3 road testing in China).

- Both are BEV China-market launches. BYD's premium Han/Tang EVs already sold overseas (Europe, Southeast Asia) differ in trim, charging port, and ADAS feature set, so overseas readers should not assume parity with these China specs.
