China EV News Today (Oct 10): Record 20 Chinese Brands Take Paris; Geely Warship 700 Launches; iCAR V27 Long-Range Goes on Sale

China's electric-vehicle industry rolled into the second week of October with a European coming-out party and two concrete domestic launches. The 2026 Paris Motor Show, which opens October 12, will host a record 20 Chinese or China-controlled brands — one full third of the floor — while Geely's Galaxy Warship 700 hits the market today and iCAR's long-range V27 extended-range SUV is now on sale. Wholesale NEV volumes for September cleared 1.67 million units, and China's share of the global plug-in market reached 62 percent through August.

Paris Motor Show 2026: the floor turns Chinese

The 91st Paris Motor Show (Mondial de l'Auto) opens its media day on October 12 and runs through October 18. According to the show's own exhibitor list, 20 of roughly 60–65 vehicle and supplier booths belong to Chinese or China-controlled brands — double the 10 that exhibited in 2024 and a symbolic one-third of the floor. MG (SAIC) is notably absent, but every other Chinese brand selling or planning to sell in Europe is present.

This edition doubles as a European launchpad for three brands: Li Auto, Dongfeng Forthing (东风风行), and GAC Aion are all expected to formally announce their European market entry on the show stage. Seres' AITO (问界) brings its full M5–M9 SUV lineup, and Geely's group brands span five halls.

At least seven global premieres are confirmed: the Geely Monjaro EM-i plug-in hybrid (a Europe-export model not sold in China, 305 kW combined, 130 km electric range, 1,100 km mixed), the Lynk & Co 07 GT plug-in hybrid wagon (390 kW, 170 km WLTP), the Li Auto i6 battery-electric crossover making its Europe debut, the XPeng G9L (volume production slated for Magna Steyr's Graz, Austria plant), the BYD Shark plug-in hybrid pickup (436 hp, 0–100 in 5.7 s, 90 km electric range, 2.5-ton towing), plus the Europe-developed BYD Dolphin G DM-i and Atto 2 DM-i.

The surge is showing up in registrations. Chinese brands held 3.4 percent of the French market in 2025 (about 22,227 units), rose to 4.8 percent in the first half of 2026 (41,051 units), and then jumped to roughly 8 percent in September 2026. BYD's French volume alone grew 136 percent in the first half versus a year earlier.

Geely Galaxy Warship 700 launches today

Geely's Galaxy brand held the global launch of the Warship 700 (战舰700) on October 10 — a mid-to-large "AI all-terrain" boxy SUV aimed at the new-energy off-road segment. Six trims were previewed at presale prices of ¥199,800–389,800 (≈$27,900–$54,400); final prices were to be confirmed at the launch event later in the day.

Power comes from Geely's Leishen EM-T range-extender / plug-in hybrid system with 1.5T or 2.0T engines. The line shares a 47.14 kWh battery (CATL cells) and a CLTC electric range of up to 305 km (two-wheel-drive trims); the flagship three-motor all-wheel-drive version is rated at 830 kW (about 1,129 metric hp) and 0–100 km/h in 3.95 s. Geely quotes 6C peak charging at up to 300 kW, or roughly 10 minutes from 10 to 80 percent under ideal conditions. The body is 5,085 mm long on a 2,900 mm wheelbase, with 30° approach and 31° departure angles.

iCAR V27 long-range goes on sale

Chery's iCAR brand put the V27 long-range edition on sale on September 30 (news broke October 8). The extended-range hardcore-family SUV adds a larger 51.2 kWh CATL LFP battery, lifting CLTC electric range from about 200 km to 300 km, with a guided price of ¥189,800–203,800 (≈$26,500–$28,400) for two all-wheel-drive trims (猎鹰500 / 猎鹰700).

The 1.5T range extender runs at a 45.79 percent thermal efficiency, and with a 60 L tank the combined CLTC range reaches 1,300 km. Dual-motor AWD makes 335 kW and 505 N·m for 0–100 km/h in the five-second range. The top trim carries a Horizon Robotics Journey 6P chip (560 TOPS) with lidar for end-to-end driver assistance. It is a China-market model; no overseas timing was announced.

Li Auto i6 2026 refresh detailed; Europe debut at Paris, China launch Oct 28

On October 9 Li Auto laid out the cadence for the 2026 i6: show cars reach 485 stores on October 11, the model makes its Europe debut at the Paris show on October 12, and the China launch event is set for October 28 with deliveries in early November. The refresh brings six upgrades, headlined by a standard 96 kWh 5C battery and a Snapdragon 8797 cockpit chip. Li Auto says the current i6 is its best-selling EV, with 16,979 delivered domestically in August 2026. Pricing is to be confirmed at the launch; Chinese media speculate the existing ¥249,800 / ¥269,800 (≈$34,800 / $37,600) tags may hold — a "more for the same" move rather than a price cut.

CPCA: September NEV wholesale hits 1.67 million

The China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) estimated September NEV wholesale at 1.67 million units, up 12 percent year-on-year and 11 percent month-on-month — a double-digit rebound that the group called the start of a "strong bottoming-out recovery" after a soft summer. Earlier CPCA guidance put September retail at about 1.11 million units with NEV penetration near a record 65.7 percent.

China's global plug-in share hits 62%; exports up 120%

CPCA secretary-general Cui Dongshu disclosed on October 9 that China captured 62 percent of the global passenger NEV market in the first eight months of 2026 (65.3 percent in July–August alone), as worldwide plug-in sales reached about 15.7 million units, up 15 percent. On the trade front, China's NEV exports totaled 3.435 million units in January–August, up 120 percent year-on-year, with the export share of total NEV output exceeding 50 percent for three straight months (June–August).
